The Bearded Wonder RIP

Bill Frindall has died.

http://www.iht.com/articles/2009/02/...T.1-420095.php

TMS will be a slightly sadder place.

flanneruk Feb 2nd, 2009 02:58 AM

I always thought Dubai wasn't a place anyone sensible went to, except to save money on flights to the Far East. And not leave the airport.

The ICC should never have moved (or changed its name either for that matter). No-one ever got legionnaire's at Lord's.

Cholmondley_Warner Feb 2nd, 2009 03:00 AM

No-one ever got legionnaire's at Lord's. >>>

I got food poisoning.

Cholmondley_Warner Feb 2nd, 2009 03:01 AM

Also: Dubai: Butlins for twats.

hetismij Feb 2nd, 2009 03:22 AM

RIP Bearded Wonder - you made cricket scoring into an art form.

TMS gets a little less attractive with his passing.

Lifeman Feb 2nd, 2009 03:32 AM

Amen to all of that. Bill Frindall was as much TMS as Jonners was and Aggers is.

God help all the US trying to understand this thread!

RIP Bill--end of an innings but the start of a new match.

Cholmondley_Warner Feb 2nd, 2009 03:37 AM

THinking about this though, it means there's a job vacancy.

I am anal about cricket stats, like cake and have a beard.

Would it be too early to send in my CV?

Lifeman Feb 2nd, 2009 03:40 AM

Perhaps a decent period of mourning might be appropriate!

I thing Wendy might get it, but that would still leave a vacancy somewhere that you could apply for now!

Cholmondley_Warner Feb 2nd, 2009 03:42 AM

I know about pigeons and buses too.

Lifeman Feb 2nd, 2009 03:43 AM

But Henry is still with us?

Cholmondley_Warner Feb 2nd, 2009 03:48 AM

He's VERY old.

Lifeman Feb 2nd, 2009 03:50 AM

Ah, so you play a long game then. I presume that you expect the longevity to outlast Bloers, so I have e-mailed him to ask how he's feeling.

Cholmondley_Warner Feb 2nd, 2009 03:54 AM

"Buses, pigeons, Aggers, Buses"

I'm rehearsing.

hetismij Feb 2nd, 2009 03:56 AM

:) send in the CV C-W!

Lifeman Feb 2nd, 2009 04:04 AM

Bloers says:

My dear old thing, I feel as sprightly as a red bus on the Harleyford Road. Tell CW that I'll be around for a bit yet!

willit Feb 2nd, 2009 05:55 AM

Very sad.

Blowers is definitly losing it - Buses and pigeons are all very well, but he is starting to gabble when a wicket is lost.

Boycott and Aggers in tandem is a joy to listen to. I am not convinced about the addition of Tufnell to the team.

If listing reasons I love being British, TMS comes very high.

hetismij Feb 2nd, 2009 06:40 AM

I hate Boycott - he is so strident, and he wakes me up. Not the intention of TMS at all. It just be this gentle burble that one half listens to most of the time, not that b****y Yorkshire man sounding off all the time. However it is fun to hear the others poke fun at him and him not get it at all.

Pete_R Feb 2nd, 2009 07:25 AM

I like Boycott, although I preferred the old model. He's toned down his entertaining bile since returning from his wife-slapping induced exile.

The biggest crime was last summer's introduction of that Poo-gash fellow...

hetismij Feb 2nd, 2009 07:30 AM

'Tis true.
TMS is not what it was and with the demise of Bill Frindall it can only go down hill further - unless C-W gets the job of course!

Cholmondley_Warner Feb 3rd, 2009 05:57 AM

Cracking creekeet on a cracking creekeet weekeet. My granny could have caught that in her pinny.

I'm still practicing.

(Boycott was a boyhood hero of mine. Still is really)

hetismij Feb 3rd, 2009 06:01 AM

:)
Not on the plane to Jamaica yet then C-W?

Cholmondley_Warner Feb 3rd, 2009 06:23 AM

My wife has gone to the west indies.

Jamaica?

No she went of her own accord.

(this joke has a hallmark)

willit Feb 3rd, 2009 07:09 AM

I am hoping that TMS, in continuing to use "guest commentators" from the countries playing against England, may have Donna Symmonds commentating. She is excellent.

hetismij Feb 3rd, 2009 07:18 AM

I agree willit. Let's hope so.
