Thanks for your help...

in planning our trip to Italy in November!! We had a fabulous time in Rome, Pompeii and Sorrento (Pompeii/Capri)!! And...my boyfriend proposed - so, now we're planning a Honeymoon - Excellent! We'd love to go back to Italy because we had such a wonderful time there and would love to see more - but, we may do something different...we're thinking about Greece. Any thoughts out there?

Congrats! Time of the year of the honeymoon may help you decide where best to go... weather, high season crowds/prices...

So when ya gonna get hitched?

Hi Thanks for responding - the Honeymoon will be early October.

It is the harvest season in Tuscany, which IMO is the most romantic place in Italy. That is what I would plan.

I do not care for Greece nearly as much, at least the 6-7 places I have visited there.

I love Italy, but I have to disagree with the last poster. Dare I admit it? We were actually a little bored in Tuscany, but didn't feel that way at all during a 3-week trip last summer to the Greek Islands.

If you go, I highly recommend a visit to Santorini, which is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. We also really enjoyed Crete, both for its beaches and history, and Rhodes, which has incredible ruins and an amazing medieval-walled city to explore.

We generally found Greece less expensive than Italy, although it's certainly possible to blow a budget if you stay at some of the 5-star hotels.

The food was very good, and the people made us feel very welcome. So much so, that we're going back this summer!

Yes, this is a tough decision. We hear Santorini is beautiful and the Greek Isles certainly appear to be a popular Honneymoon destination. We have never been to Greece, so, it would be nice to have a new experience. (I've been to Tuscany, but not during Harvest Season!) How do we not include Italy on our Honeymoon, right?!

KFusto, you have been to 6-7 places in Greece?

Weadles, I believe if we go to Greece - that is where we would go - Santorini and Crete. But, I suppose a couple of days in Athens may be necessary. You would fly to santorini from Athens, correct? I wonder if some people choose to fly to Santorini w/o going through Athens? I don't think we would be very comfortable flying in those small planes around the isles.

How much time did you need for Santorini / Crete and Rhodes?

I have been to Rhodes, Santorini, Mykonos, Ephesus, Corfu, Athens over the course of two Med cruises. I am sure many love it but I was not wowed. Yes, it was pretty enough, even beautiful, it just did not speak to me like Italy does.
