Mr (and presumably Mrs) Fodor is long dead and was allegedly a CIA agent in eastern Europe (born in Hungary) - but he may not be dead and instead just have gone underground.

Got mine last week. But I didn't ask for the one I was quoted in, so Katie sent me my quote.

Well, thank you again.

I've just had an email from Fodors saying that I've been quoted in the Fodors Guide to France, 2010.

à bientôt France Guide 2010 !

Moi aussi, but I've lost the message!

Et moi aussi.

It's funny - I post almost every day on the Europe board and maybe about twice a year in the US forum - I got an email that I had been quoted in the new guide for San Francisco. But I'm proud to be a "published travel writer"! Now what guide do I want to receive??

Leely2 Nov 10th, 2009 04:36 PM

Hi, not bragging b/c I am sure I said something inane as per usual, but I have a question.

I can now order a free guidebook. I'm not going to get the one in which I was quoted. Does anyone have a Fodor's favorite European country or city guidebook to recommend for someone not committed to a particular destination?

My next trip is East Africa and I prefer the Bradt guides for Africa. I think Fodor's is good for Europe. I have buckets of Paris, Rome, France and Italy guidebooks because those are the European cities/countries I revisit so I don't really need one of those.

What have people found useful or inspiring?

Leely2 Nov 10th, 2009 04:38 PM

Oh, and like suec1 I was quoted in one of the U.S. books. The southern one!
