I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the Fowler family. Wes will indeed be missed on this forum.

When I first started visiting Fodors several years ago, I quickly learned to always read his posts and they always made an impression on me. He was a true gentleman who was willing to share his knowledge and love of travel. We will miss him.

Wes was one of a kind. We will miss his voice here, though his advice remains. We found his information on Amsterdam invaluable. I just hope he and my DH get together to swap travel stories and keep an eye on us travelers.

Based on Wes's comments here on Fodor's we visited the Red Lion Pub in London last May. It was one of many great tips he generously shared with Fodorites. His death is like losing a national treasure.

May he rest in peace.

Please accept my condolences. He was a fine man and made Fodor's a better place. His knowledge and advice will be missed. Though I didn't know him except through his posts, you could tell he was a caring man. My thoughts go out to his family.

I was very sorry to hear about Wes. My sympathy is with you and your family. I remember when I first got on this forum years ago and Wes had given me quite a few good tips on my first trips to Paris and London. I remember seeing his name all over the forum and thinking that this man must have great knowledge and love of travel. Not to mention the time and detail he took to respond to each of us. He obviously enjoyed sharing and helping as well. He had also sent me some details of a past trip of his that was very helpful. His expertise will surely be missed! Although now in a different manner, I imagine Wes will still be traveling and helping others in heaven. God Bless.

From Canada - my profound sympathies. From the poem "Remembrance" by Anne Bronte...
"And though thy transient life is o'er,
'Tis sweet to think that thou hast been;
To think a soul so near divine,
Within a form so angel fair,
United to a heart like thine,
Has gladdened once our humble sphere."
