TGV ticket prices
 

Hi,

I am looking for some help with TGV tickets. We will be travelling from Paris to Avignon on July 3, returning to Paris on July 10. The tickets we found online are 350 $ return. I travelled 2 years ago and don't recall the price being that high. Is there another website that sells cheaper tickets or are they all the same? The site we used was Raileurope.

I bought our 4 tickets a few days ago, printing my tickets at home with instructions from this site. Very simply done.

I just plugged in your dates and came up with 94 euros total for 2 people. Use the site www.voyages-sncf.com. The helpful advice I found on the train thread here, is to go to the site, click on "train", and if you don't read French, look on your browser line and find: "LANG=FR" - change "FR" to "UK", and voila, you complete the transaction in English. Check the wonderful train threads here for complete instructions about printing at home. Oh, and like us, if you want a good price, be willing to get up early. Good luck!

RailEurope actually sells a 3-day France flexi railpass at much cheaper than the round trip price they quote

3 day France Railpass - flexi pass - any three unlimited travel days over a month period costs $238 p.p. on a Saverpass - much cheaper than the $350 return you quote plus you'd have one more unlimited travel day - you would have to pay 3 euros for each TGV reservation on top of the pass however

So the $350 return is about $100 more than the 3-day pass, which can be used on any train anytime, subject to seat availability of course.

I bought my ticket to Avignon for July about a week ago on the SNCF site. It was 40€ for the day I wanted. (I'm driving back to Paris.)
