TGV seating

We have purchased first class E-tickets on the internet for the TGV from Paris to Tours(St. Pierre des Corps) and have received a confirmation # but no seat assignment. How does this work? When we get our tickets with the conf.# at the machine in the station will we then be given a seat # or will we sit anywhere?

We have taken theTGV in the past but have gotten the tickets through a travel agent and always had seat numbers.

If you have a TGV ticket, you automatically have a reserved seat, since they are obligatory.

When your tickets are printed, you will find out where you should sit.

I thought they actually showed you your seat reservation when you bought the ticket, but may be remembering wrong. I just bought one a few weeks ago and could have sworn I was shown the seat number online during the purchase process. Of course you know it when you print it as you have to know where to go.

They only show the seats if you think to ask.

Merci!

One more question----when we get the TGV ticket out of the machine does it have to be stamped in the orange machine before we board?

Yellow machine. Yes. Only the tickets that you print yourself are not stamped.

Any of the cardboard stiff tickets must be stamped.
