TGV or Plane to Toulon/Hyeres

I haven't weighed my suitcases, but I'm concerned about being over the weight limit for both EasyJet(if we flew to Nice) and Air France (Their luggage requirements are the same as far as I can tell for domestic flights). Anyway, if I could get one of the itickets for the TGV, the price for the train and the flights would be about the same. I've read that the luggage area on the TGV is now open, so it sounds like we could possibly leave as many as 2 pieces apiece there in the luggage holding area. To me, this sounds like a better deal than worrying w/ just one piece of what might turn out to be too heavy luggage.

Hi Elaine,

The TGV has luggage racks above the seats (like on airplanes) for small bags.

Only large bags go in the luggage area.

If you decide to fly, Marseille would be closer to Toulon and Hyères than Nice.

Hi

Flight info changes rapidly.

There are flights into Toulon, but you don't say where you are coming from.

I've got some cheap flight information for West Med areas here :

Actually, in my experience, passengers put any number, and sizes, of bags, on those racks at the end of the TGV coaches. There can also be room underneath the seats and in some cases behind/between seats depending on the seating configurations.

T'is true, t'is true, t'is pity and pity t'is, t'is true.

That way the luggage area get clogged, while racks above the seats have room.

It happens on other trains as well.
