TGV on time?
 

We are leaving Bordeaux on the TGV on a Tuesday scheduled to arrive at CDG 12:10 pm.. My American air flight leaves at 2:50 for the US. Am I cutting the time too close?

As long as there is not a strike on!

Seeing as how you're supposed to be at an airport 3 hours before an international flight, I would say yes. But most people show up 2 hours before and are fine. It depends what's comfortable for you--I would be worried sick the whole time about being late; some people wouldn't be bothered by it.

Seems like ideal timing to me - just check the day before you leave that no strikes have been announced.

My experience is that the TGV is always on time, but that does not mean that they won't go on strike the day you want to travel. I think the odds are in your favor that they won't. I also feel you have enough time to make your connection. If this in not your first trip and are a little familiar with CDG I am sure you won't have a problem.

TGV is always on time (except when there is on strike) so it's rather are you on time instead? Wish our trains ran on schedule like them.

when I took it last summer from Avignon to CDG it was about 1/2 hour late arriving in Avignon but I can't remember if it made up the time by the time we arrived at CDG.

I'd say they are always on time except when they are not! Out of dozens of trips all over France, actually only been late twice: about 45 minutes into Paris from Vannes and about 30 minutes once from Lyon.

During the recent monstrous heat wave, the authorities slowed all of the trains and slowed the fastest trains the most. Something to do with the possibility of the tracks buckling, breaking, bending?
