TGV from Nice to Paris
How long is the trip from Nice to Paris and is it free with our France/Italy Rail Pass ?
|
You can check schedules on www.bahn.de or www.sncf.fr. TGVs are covered by a rail pass, but you need to reserve a seat which costs a nominal amount. There is also an overnight train; with the rail pass, you just pay for the sleeping berth.

From Nice to paris takes about 6 hours.

Hi m,
Are you sure you need a Railpass? Have you entered your itinerary at www.railsaver.com and clicked "only if it saves money"? ((I)) |
There are other benefits to a railpass than "only if it saves money"
---the need in most countries to just hop on the train (not so in Italy and France alas) ---taking train rides you never would have taken with point-point ticket - for example i take a train to Interlaken and when i get there the sun is out and warm so i hop the Lake Thun boats for a float around the lake - free with my pass but which i probably wouldn't have paid the $30 or so for ---the ability to take alternative routes - longer routes if need be in case you can't get on a train on the more direct route - i'm thinking of night trains here - several times i've taken much longer routes than expected - for example once in Nice the Paris night train was full so i took a Nice-Metz night train then in the morning a day train to Paris- much longer route. So it's not always "only if it saves me money" in my opinion. |
That said, many people overbuy on railpasses - especially folks that know their exact itinerary and are only taking a few train trips.
