TGV from CDG to Normandy?

I went into SNCF site to see if it's possible to take train from CDG to Caen, Rouen, or some town from which to rent a car and explore Normandy. I got a message that there are more than 2 changes for this trip and to book the legs separately. Is it not possible to go directly from CDG to a town in Normandy? I was hoping there would be a TGV to points north. Suppose alternative would be to go into Paris and then to Normandy, or rent car directly from CDG and drive up? Lots of questions, I realize! What's best way to do this?<BR>

We rented a car at CDG and drove to Caen in May. We were unable to find a public transportation option that did notinvolve going into Paris.

I dont know if it's the "best" way, but you can get a train into the city and take a non stop train from gare St. Lazare to Caen and other cities. There are no TGVs on this route as far as I know.
