Hi cm,

My,

>are tickets bought the day of departure normally less expensive or more expensive? <

If you are buying full-fare tickets, the price will not change.

>Are trains often sold out? <
Weekends and holidays are usually busy, but you could probably get the full-fare 1cl ticket.

Please note: On your outbound leg, you can buy 1cl PREMS for the same price as the 2cl refundable ticket.

For 5E more, you get cancellation insurance.

Click "Oui, je souhaite souscrire l'assurance annulation 5.00 €".

Hope this works out for you.

I sumulated a purchase, right up to the "buy" button, and it worked for me.

Success! Thanks for all the help!! We kept getting hung up when it got down to actually buying the tickets -- we tried 4 different credit cards - each time our transaction was rejected. We worried that we didn't have the security code accurate (those things are always hard to read) -- but we knew at least one of them had to be correct. Then, finally, as a last ditch effort -- I used my atm/debit card (which is also a Visa but I've never used it for anything other than atm withdraws) -- and, surprise, surprise -- it worked. Not sure why the other cards didn't work but at this point I'm just thrilled to have this over with.

Now . . . later tonight . . . car rental -- I'm thinking that is going to be easy. Small car - pick up and drop off at the Avignon TGV station - I already have Auto Europe bookmarked -- please tell me it is going to be easy!

Once again -- thanks for all of the insights and encouragement - this site is really wonderful - I try to return the favors!

Hi Carol,

Good for you.

It is quite likely that your Credit cards were rejected because the CC computer flagged a strange charge.

Let your CC company know that you are planning a European trip.

Re car rental: also check with www.novarentcar.com.

Call AE for your final booking. They usually better any other rates.

We were very happy with a Peugeot 307 Diesel.

I think it is novacarhire.com not novacar rental which is a Tunisian site.
