Too funny Robespierre.

I guess making it to any flight on time is pretty much luck these days!

Indytravel - thanks for sharing your experience and "trick" with me. I'm feeling lucky too! What's travel without some "danger"?!

I usually debate for days whether to chance the last minute train to CDG or stay at airport hotel the night before - and I'm afraid I chicken out and do Robespierre's thing instead of Indytravel's. However, I must say, of all the French trains Ive been on, they have ALWAYS been on time! I'm just the opposite on arrival at CDG, and buy PREM tickets without alot of time to make the train - but that's always worked out too - luckily. I think you will probably be fine taking the TGV to CDG the same day. I guess I'm paranoid about missing my flight home - and greatly disappointing my doggies!

Another question for you "veterans" of TGV travel...I booked PREM tickets and was wondering what 1st class gets you on the TGV? More leg room? Priority in the meal car? Slippers? (ok, just kidding on the slippers). Thanks

more leg and baggage room, bigger seats. 3 seats in a row - 1 by window, so-called isolated seat and then two on other side of aisle vs. 2 x 2 in second class in same space. No slippers no priority in dining car as most TGVs serve meals at seats i believe in first class - may not be available in second class?

I've only been in TGV's in second class. The only access to food & drink is the bar car. Simple snacks, chips, sandwiches, maybe a croque monsieur. Wine and beer available too.

I much prefer to buy my own stuff at the train station and take it on board. It's cheaper. For me that's usually a nice sandwich and a couple of cold beers. Several of the places I've bought beer gave me a plastic cup for it.

I may have not been clear but the food is not free in first class but you usually do get meals served at seats if you pay for them. TGV seats have tables that fold down from the back of the next row of seats or a table between seats that face each other - i too enjoy bringing my own food on trains as many French do as well, less so in first class.
