TGV Avignon to Paris help
I just tried to make a reservation for the TGV from Avignon to Paris in late June. The only train that appeared to have available seats was late in the evening. Is it possible that all the other trains are already booked? Do they make more seats available later?
Somehow I had gotten the idea that you couldn't book more than 60 days in advance. But then reading the posts on this forum I discovered you could. Now I fear I am too late. Any help or suggestions? |
Can reserve 90 days in advance - if it's a weekend in late June at the start of the annual summer migration to the south then it's possible i guess - the weekends around July 1, 15 Aug 1, 15 and 30 - the beginning and end of two-week vacation periods can be very hectic even though the SNCF does put on addtional trains. You may have to take a local train to Lyon and then get one of the much more frequent Lyon-Paris TGVs (twice hourly) if the Avignon-Paris TGVs are booked.

If you are looking past about June 13, it is not within 90 days yet. The trains you see may be the iDTGV, which can be booked earlier.

Thank you PalQ and StuDudley. I won't panic yet. I'll just wait until next weekend, when I'm within the 90 day period and try again.
It's sooo confusing! |
First class would seem to also be an alternative if second class were full.

I wouldn't panic, I'm sure there will be more seats than that (or the first class suggestion). I've taken that train around that time and had no problem and didn't book this far ahead at all. It was pretty full, but everybody in France doesn't book train reservations 3 months ahead.
