I saw a movie about this total weenie who posted ridiculous complaints in June and suddenly his spine, always weak, just dissolved. He collapsed on the floor and was eaten by a wolverine.

What was his name -- Joseph Hazelwood? <BR> <BR>And even though you were sailing in a warm body of water, I can tell you that iceberg-laden water is really, really cold. Believe me, you want no part of that. Kind of like putting a giant ice cube in your warm drink and swirling it around. Brrrr! I mean, I was lucky enough to have a handsome, adolescent man/boy to save me, but you probably wouldn't want to count on that kind of good luck. Any money you spent to get yourself out of that dangerous situation was smart money, I say. <BR> <BR>And don't listen to all of those people saying you shouldn't have let the movie bother you. I took another cruise recently, and they had the nerve to show "The Poseidon Adventure." Man, that really freaked me out. I mean, hitting an iceberg is bad enough, but being upside down and having to swim alongside Shelley Winters is something else again. It still gives me the willies! <BR> <BR>I hope you had a nice flight home. I hear some of the airlines have taken to showing "Airplane" as the inflight movie. You might want to pass on those headphones. <BR>

i can't believe anyone answered seriously. Unfortunately, many in the US believe that anxiety is compensatable- someone else is responsible for making us a bundle of neurosis. Get some therapy. Get a life.

I must say I am rather hurt to see some of the cynical comments above. But I would still wish to show my appreciation for that minority who did show some understanding. In any event I hope the cynics among you realise that the same things affect us all in different ways. It isn't that long ago that peanut allegies were laughed at or that dyslexia was simply dismissed as someone who was intellectually challenged. That movie DID affect me though I too never though ut would at the time, gently at first but as I found I couldn't sleep properly, my irritability rose which unsettled me more just increased until in the end I was shattered...it really ruined what should have been a great vacation for me. <BR>Enough said.

I had a similar experience. I was on a beach vacation once, and JAWS was on cable the second night. I think I should be compensated for my losses -- I was too scared to go in the pool, not to mention the ocean, for the rest of the trip. How reckless of the cable operators to show Jaws in a beachside community in prime beach season. I'm indignant.

Falcon, I have it much worse than you. I have been unable to go to church ever since I saw the Exorcist. After all, it took an awfully long time for those incompetent priests to get the devil out of that little girl. That really shook my faith. So I figure 25 years without church means I am on a greased track straight to hell. Falcon, you lost some money and a few nights of sleep, but I lost my eternal soul. Who's worse off?

Long-time Fodorites should notice that Falcon is a master provoker, a person of great wit and wisdom. He knows exactly which hot buttons to push to provoke our deepest-held cynicism and sarcasm. I can only give him credit, he does it again and again, and each time is like the first time -- we think he's serious.

Ok- I am prepared to take your word that you are sincere. I would act quickly, in legal terms to delay constitutes acceptance. Remember that you had a contract with that company and yes they do, under common law, have an obligation not to present material which could upset people. So I suggest you raise this with a lawyer. However the chances might be slim to win a successful settlement in which case I would advise you to seek and budget from you lawyer for his costs... <BR>* <BR>Good luck.

When I first read the post, I failed to pick up on the author. Should have. <BR>But it would not have changed my reply. <BR>Falcon was either funning totally or he got hit by the iceberg when it fell off of Kilamanjaro. I have always found it hard to take his posts seriously because most of them are so outrageous as to defy creditability. So those of you who took this seriously, I think you need to look up other examples of his participation on this forum. <BR>I think he must have a sore cheek from shoving his tongue into it so hard.

Having read your insisteance, I do believe you Falcon. I am sorry that you had such a poor vacation, an aunt of mind used to suffer from awful nightmares whenever she would see a shocking movie. Anyway try not to get hurt by the sceptics around here. See a lawyer and who knows you may get something out of them after all.

OK. Someone out there thinks that our insomniac cruise passenger might have a honest-to-goodness legal claim. Please. How could anyone tell someone to even think about a legal remedy in a case like this? Good grief!

I successfully sued the British government for allowing CUJO to be shown whilst staying on the Isle of Dogs. <BR> <BR>I am currently in litigation with the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles for showing, back-to-back, TOWERING INFERNO and EARTHQUAKE (not because they caused me fear, but because they were so bad). <BR> <BR>Falcon, I can certainly understand your upset; what effect will that experience have on you, once you reach puberty? Horrible horrible - I would definitely look for financial recompense.
