lyndash, we were seriously considering your apt but the owners would not commit to us leaving our luggage there before we could officiallly check in. they wanted an extra day's rent. i was very surprised by their attitude and we didn't rent from them. how were your dealings w/ them? just curious...

Not Lyndash, but I can tell you my dealings with the owners' representive were most pleasant. Never did communicate directly with the owners themselves (an American married to a Japanese, living in Japan), but arranged everything through their assistant, who was consistently friendly and helpful in his emails.
The on-site manager, a Japanese lady who lives across the courtyard, was equally gracious. She never even requested the deposit we were prepared to present. We made it a special point to leave the apartment as spotless as we found it. |
In an earlier post, I alluded to the "unseasonable heat" we encountered. That was in March of 2005, not this past March.
There had been reports of icy cold weather prior to our departure, so I packed accordingly. Which left us with not a great variety of clothing when the sun shone warmly each day, but who cared? It was Spring in Paris at its most glorious. The week after we left, the temperatures plummeted. Sometimes, in Paris, you get lucky and sometimes you don't. |
Hi Plambers...I'm surprised you are having a problem and I guess I don't understand what the problem is...do you want to leave your luggage the day before you have the apartment booked or early in the same day you check in? We got to CDG fairly early in the AM but by the time we got baggage, went through customs and got ATM money and Roissy bus tickets etc it was mid-day before we got to the apartment. I had called Ms. Kubo from the airport to let her know that we were on our way and she buzzed us in and gave us the tour and the keys. We also didn't have to give her the deposit money.
I can understand that they may not want to be responsible for your baggage 24 hours or more before you are actually in the apartment but I'm not sure if that is, indeed, what you are saying? I can only say good things about my dealings with everyone involved with tis apartment.........lynda |
our flight got in around 8 am so i figured we'd arrive around 11 am. i only wanted to be able to leave my luggage there so we could walk around before the apt was ready to check in. they would not agree to it and said i needed to pay for an extra day. i was surprised since our e mail exchange seemed very pleasant. it all worked out for the best, though. thanks

Wow! Well, I'm flummoxed as it sounds like just what we did with no problem. Of course the apartment was ready for us. Maybe the previous renters were leaving that AM and ours had been gone a day or so longer....still seems like a perfectly reasonable request on your part. Too bad, but I'm glad to hear you are set up elsewhere. Give us a review on it when you get back! Have a great time....lynda

lyndash, sounds like you had a great trip with your daughter.
With a pardon to the gentlemen; Ladies, isn't Paris a fabulous city to explore with daughters, sisters and/or girlfriends? I truly have enjoyed every trip to Paris with my husband but with my daughter and sisters Paris gave us more than we ever imagined; so many ways to pamper ourselves;;) Deborah |
lyndash, I arrived on the 2nd of February and left on the 13th. This was my first trip in winter and I must say I loved Paris without the crowds.
DeborahAnn, my wife and duaghter spent a week together in Pairs last August and had a wonderful time together. So much fun that when my daughter was home from university for a couple of days last month she and Margriet started to talk about going back together in October. There's something magic about that place ... Anselm |
