Terracottoa Army in Drenthe

Maybe of interest to anyone visiting the Netherlands this summer.
From next week, until end of August
the Drentse museum and the Groninger museuem have a joint China exhibtion. The Drentse museuem in Assen has some of the Terracottoa army on display. The Gorninger museum has more modern Chinese artwork.
Entry to the Drenste museum is €8.00, tickets available at the museum.
The Museum is open Tues - Sunday 10.00 - 17.00, and it is a few minutes walk from Assen station (Train from Amsterdam to Amersfoort, change to train to Assen).
Several hotels in the area ar offering special deals.
The website is only in Dutch but you can get an idea: www.gochina-assen-groningen.nl.

Are they the real thing or copies like the ones in Germany?

The Terracotta Warriors exhibit was in KY several years ago. I really enjoyed it.

There are several traveling exhibits with some having only 3 warriers and others as many as 20 plus quite a few other artifacts.

They are the real thing. There are 14 on display along with 200 items from the Qan and West-Han dynasties.
In Groningen bronzes from the Shanghai museum, plus modern art by Ai Weiwei and other artists plus Avant-Garde art from the 80s.

You should definitely see these warriors if you have the opportunity. I had the pleasure of travelling to Xian, China, to see the soldiers a few years ago. What an unbelievable experience! I even got to meet the farmer who found the soldiers. (He was digging in his field and found the underground tomb where they were buried.)

I thought the groningen ones are Chinese but modern

Groningen, as I said in my second post has a mixed exhibition, mostly modern, but also some bronzes dating from 18BC to 3 BC from from the Shanghai museum.
It is possible to buy a combi ticket for both exhibitions, but I'm not sure they will send them outside of the Netherlands.
I am hoping to go soon to the Drenthe exhibit. Because my bank is sponsoring it I can get in for half price :D (Like €8.00 would break the bank LOL)
