Terracotta Soldiers at the British Museum

I understand the British Museum is giving out 500 tickets at 9:45 each morning to see the soldiers. Does anyone know how early we should be in line to have a good chance to receive a couple?

There aren't any available on the internet during the time we will be in London except late on a Sunday evening.

I was about to order or stand in line but £25 per person was more than I could handle

Tickets are £12

carolyn: Please note that (according to the link provided by alanRow), tickets are released at 9:15 am, NOT 9:45 am. Good luck!

Just curious... how many will be on display? We saw the original site in Xi'an in '97 and it was amost unbelievable. I think they've uncovered even more since our visit.

Thanks for your replies. I looked at that site, Alan and just me, and misread the time--too much time on the computer, or aging eyes.

Anyone else have an idea of how early to arrive in order to get tickets?

I just returned and did this myself. I arrived at about 9:30'ish and there was already quite a line up for the tickets - however, the BM staff were walking the line and letting everyone know that they would get a ticket and at approx what time they would get in - your ticket will be timed for entrance, but you have as much time as you want when you enter.

The line moved very quickly and my ticket was timed for 11:10am - not bad I thought. And you're already at the BM so there are plenty of other things to look at while you wait for your entrance time.

Exhibit is very busy inside, don't worry about lining up to see stuff, move about freely and go back and forth as you see a quiet time. The warriors are pretty incredible, especially when you think how old they are.

Kmowatt, thank you so much. Just what I wanted to know! We had already thought we would use any extra time seeing more of the museum.
