I know this is a little late, but who knows might help others. Terezin is a little town, not a camp like you may be thinking. They basically took the entire town and made it into a camp. There are areas that seem more "camp" like than others, like the barracks area and the area across the river, but one could just spend the day in one of the couple town squares they have.

Oh and I'd at least recommend going into the museums to see the AMAZING artwork that the interned prisoners produced. It's stuff that you'll never forget.

I once had a book of drawings by the children interred in Terezin(it was stolen from me) The book was called "Änd I never saw another Butterfly" *I can understand your feelings after reading the words in this book.

There are a couple of cafes near the central square of Terezin.

I can understabd your wish to miss the tour. It is heartbreaking, even for an English Christian.

Best wishes
