Temperature at Mt Titlis in August?
I wondered if anyone could tell me what the temperature is like at MT Titlis in early August. We are due to visit Lucerne in the first week of August and the rest of the trip will be in Paris for abt a week. I'm at a lost where packing is concerned because out of the blue I have to pack a parka or maybe heavy sweaters just for a day trip to Mt Titlis?? Will I require gloves, hats etc???

Emily good day to you!
Take a sweater tht will protect you from wind and cold. After a ten-days heatwave in Switzerland, we have had rather cold and rainy weather for the last ten days. We had to put the heating on over the last weekend. Very unusual though for July. It's has been snowing above 2000m.
It's extremely difficult to say, what temperature it will be in August. Usually, it's better than July, but heavy rains and drop of temperature is likely to occur as well.
But you wont need gloves. A hat is most useful to protect from rain and from sun which must not be underestimated in the mountains. Take sun protection with you. You can get burned easily, also with clouded weather and you will only get aware of that in the evening.
Have fun in Switzerland! :-) .. and Paris too!

Titlis tops out at around 10,000 feet (3,000 m) as I recall. Temperatures there will be in the 30s or 40s typically, eventhough in the valley it may be in the 70s.

Wind, clouds, sunshine ... all will conspire to make it feel warmer or cooler than the air temperature.

Windbreaker, sweater and cap as a minimum of added layers, unless you want to be restricted to staying inside in the cafeteria ... or quite chilly.

twenj
