Judyrem, it's just another example of fashion winning out over common sense (or maybe over shame). I said it on another thread and I'll say it again: If you can reach down and grab a handful of flesh anywhere between your breasts and your hips, do NOT wear midriff-baring clothing. Please.

Marilyn: too very true(and funny)! I just can barely stand form fitting clothes let alone ab baring clothes Scarlett, I saw some fabulous tweeds at Talbots.com, in fact their 2 boucle tweed suits are gorgeous IMO. I do online Talbots all the time, plus it is easy to return to the store.

It's been going on in Italy for at least a year, I ranted about it last summer <http://www.straughan.com/oped/bras.htm> - but I only saw Carrie Bradshaw's bra hanging out in season six, so I guess the Italians got there before her. It drives me crazy, too - must be my upbringing, but I think it looks trashy.

best regards,

Unless one is exercising, on the beach, or walking around a Greek island, midriff-baring clothing should NEVER be worn. I don't care how great a body one has.

Would you have ever seen fashion icons like the Princess of Wales, Audrey Hepburn, or Jackie O walking down a city street wearing a tube top???? NEVER.

Is the series Grumpy Old Men being shown on BBC America? They're running repeats on "regular" BBC and it sounds like all of you would enjoy it. (For those who don't know about it, jowly [but not jolly] Geoffrey Palmer narrates a show featuing Bob Geldof, Jeremny Clarkson, Elliot Gould, Rick Stein and similar guys in late 40s and up having a moan about all manner of things...it's very funny and as I'm in my 40s, I can't help but agree with them more often than not.) Clothes were part of the litany of complaints last night, especially the "casual prurience" of body parts showing everywhere, the horribly named FCUK fashion brand, the return of flares (bell bottoms), etc.
You can watch clips of the show at:

the show's home page is:
