Tell me this is do-able!
 

Hi guyz,almost finalised itin. on my Spring Germany tour:<BR>1)Franfurt(1st April,Tue)--&gt;Alsfeld(1 nite)<BR>2)---&gt;Kassel(2nd,3rd April,2 nite)<BR>3)---&gt;Hannovrsh-Munden(4th April,1 nite)<BR>4)---&gt;Hameln(5Th April,1 nite)<BR>5)----&gt;Hildesheim(6th ,7thApril,2 nite)<BR>6)----&gt;Goslar(8th,9th April,2 nite)<BR>7)-----&gt;Bamberg(10th April,1 nite)<BR>8)-----&gt;dinkelsbuhkl(11th April,1 nite)<BR>9)------&gt;Rottenburg(12th,13th April,2 nite)<BR>10)----&gt;Wurzburg(14th,15th April,2 nite)<BR>11)----&gt;Franfurt(16th april,l nite)<BR>l need your advice:<BR>1)l'm only travelling by bus/train.Do u think this itin. is feasible or too tiring/rush?<BR>2)Should l increase my stay in some towns instead and give other towns a miss?<BR>3)Should l increase my stay in Bamberg to 2 nite and forget Dinkelsbuhl instead?Are there enough sights to see to spend 2 nites each in Hildesheim,Goslar?<BR>Will l miss anything if l forgo Alsfeld?<BR>4)Is it too rush to catch a train from Franfurt Airport to Alsfeld at 7:22 am?.l'm arriving at the airport at 6.30 am,1st April.<BR>5)Any other suggestions greatly appreciated.<BR>Cheers!<BR><BR>

I'm afraid I don't know many of the places you're going to but I can tell you that a flight arrival of 0630 and a train at 0722 would be very rushed and you mostly likely would not make it. If you are going to the Alsfeld in Oberhess, I checked the train schedule and can't even find your 0722, but there are many other trains going there at short intervals so don't worry if you miss that one. Your trip is not overly rushed. Your time in Bamberg is too short, however, especially considering the train trip that day from Goslar. I would steal a night or two from Hildesheim and Goslar and spend them in Bamberg instead. Also, Hameln, Hildesheim, and Goslar are all fairly close to one another; why do you want to pick up and move to a new bed each day? Might be better to stay in one central place - Hildesheim? - and do daytrips to the other towns, which can indeed be seen in a day. Also, Hannoversch-Muenden can be seen on your way between Kassel and Hameln or as a daytrip from Kassel.

I would spend one only one night in Rothenburg.

I, too, am unfamiliar with many of these destinations but will say this about Kassel: not sure why you have selected this stop (and for 2 nights), but having spent 2 nights there this past August to see the Documenta show would wonder what one could possibly do for 2 days there WITHOUT the art show. Nice enough place but...

11 different places over 15 nights. I wouldn't do it. That will be a lot of getting on and off trains and buses, waiting in stations, checking in and out of accomodations. Bamberg is certainly worth 2 nights. Dinkelsbuhl is quaint, but there isn't all that much to see unless you're looking for cultural immersion--which is unlikely with 1 night there. Have you considered using 3 or 4 towns as a home bases and taking day trips to some of these places?

Hi thanx for the reply.<BR>1)l chose 2 nites for Kassel mainly to visit the Death Museum,<BR>the 2 castles and 3 Museums,especially the Grimm Brothers Museum at Wilhelmshohe.l understand otherwise it's a rather modern city.l guess l nite is not enough ??,l may leave earlier<BR>if l finish these sights:)<BR>2)It seemed most people think Dinkelsbuhl is a miniature version of Rothenburg,so l am considering scrapping it so as to spent 2 nies in Bamberg.<BR>To Russ especially,<BR>3)l did consider using Maybe Hildesheim as a base and do day-trips and similarly using Rothenburg as a base.However,l 'll have to spent double transport money eg.the DB fare from Hildesheim to Goslar is Euro 8,to and fro by doing day-trips would be 16 Euro.If l just travel from one town to the next town, l don't have to backtrack.<BR>Unless there are cheap local transport like RMV,NVV in these states which l'm not aware,in which case please kindly englighten me.Any websites on local transport in Hesse,Lower Saxony,Bavaria?<BR>Then may be l can Travel from Goslar to <BR>Wurzburg and use it as a base to do daytrips to Bamberg and Rothenburg??<BR>Russ, do u think this is better?<BR>Thank you very much!<BR><BR>
