According to the announcement, only 500,000 2 ticket booklets will be sold. In a country of 80 million, only about 1/2% of the people can get them, and that doesn't include outsiders. I suspect they will be sold out quickly.

Except for being sold only in pairs, being non-train-specific, and including children under 17 free, this is very much like the Dauer-Special, which is also valid on Fridays.

The press release says 'by ICE across the land'. It doesn't say "including ICE", it says "by ICE". Have you seen anywhere else that other classes of trains are included?

As ALWAYS with these tickets.
- all trains included, ANY train.
- plenty available on Ebay a few days later

Though it isn't specified, there's no reason why the tickets shouldn't be valid on all other trains, too, however I guess there's an exception to nighttrains and those rare ICE-'Sprinter'-trains.

It should be noted, that the tickets will be available from Friday, 14th.

I bought two of these tickets last year while we were living there and then lost them! I turned the house upside-down for days but couldn't find them. Finally, a month after expiration I found them used as a bookmark in my Daytrips In Germany book. Aauugggghhh!

Did you at least get the 2 free cups of cappuchino ;-) The vouchers are on the last page.

No, I missed the coffee too. We were just getting into packing mode for moving back to the States when I found the expired tickets, so we didn't even get a chance to get onto a train after that. :( About my third day of tearing apart the house and looking for them I realized that I had already spent more in time than the tickets were worth so I stopped looking. Of course, I knew full well that I'd find them and be incredibly irritated one day.
