Taxi's in Munich to the airport

"Most" of you were very helpful in answering my question about transportation (buses vs. train)to the Munich airport from the Marriott on Berliner Strasse.

Now...how about a taxi? What would the cost be and how long would it take to make that trip from the Marriott? We are a couple in our mid-70's, so I'm trying to make it easy on ourselves. Thanks, again.

I don't know for sure because I never took a taxi to the airport in Munich.

I was quoted a price two years ago of €70.
I do not know how accurate that figure is now, nor if it is open for negotiation.

The Lufthansa bus is a little more than the S-Bahn, but from the main strain station or Nordfriedhof, it is hard to beat.

The trip for the bus is about 50 minutes depending on traffic.

That is one advantage of the S-Bahn, no traffic jams.

We did take a taxi to the airport when we were flying out to Copenhagen. I don't recall the cost, but at the time we didn't feel that it was much more expensive than train fare for the two of us.

Three weeks later, we returned to Munich to take our flight back to the States. This time, we took the train, but we discovered part way through the trip that at the next to the last stop (I believe it was that stop), we would have to get out of the car we were in and re-enter the last car, as the first part of the train was not going to the airport.

I think I'd suggest the taxi. Less wear and tear on your nerves.

Thousands of people ride the trains from downtown to the airport every day. Many of them are older than our OP.

I don't care whether this is helpful or not.

Taxi takes about 30/35 minutes and the link will lead you to companies that provide a Limo service.

I took the S Bahn (S-8) from the main train station (Hauptbahnhof) with my folks (in their 70's at the time). We each had one rolling suitcase.

Our hotel was on Berlinerstrasse, near the Hauptbahnhof. There was a direct train that took 40 minutes and was very manageable. No changes. No cars being left behind. Cheap, too.

Nevermind my answer. If I had read your question more carefully, I'd have read that you already investigated the train.

Sorry I'm no help!

Your Marriott hotel quotes a taxi price of appr 45 EUR to the airport on its fact sheet:
http://marriott.com/hotels/fact-shee...arriott-hotel/

As your hotel is on the northern edge of Munich, close to the freeway which leads to the airport, the ride should not take longer than 30 minutes. Allow for a bit more during rush hours.

Thanks to all of you! Sounds as though the train or bus would be an easy way for us to go. And thanks for the websites, which helped very much. With all the reading I did on the Marriott Munich hotel I missed the one that Cowboy posted!
