Taxis/buses in Capri????

Okay, everyone was so helpful as far as staying in Anacapri or Capri. We got such great feedback on Caesar Augustus that we are thinking of keeping our reservations. My husband and I are very curious then to how we will get back and forth between the two. We definitely enjoy shopping and the nightlife and want to make sure we can catch a cab or bus back whether it is day or late night.
Thanks again in advance for all help!!

Yes, there are numerous taxis and small busses that can transport you between Capri and Anacapri, Marina Piccola, Marina Grande, Faro, Grotta Azzurra, etc.

A one-way bus ticket between Capri and Anacapri costs only 1,30 euros; 2,10 euros for a 60 minute ticket for multiple bus rides within that timeframe; or 6,70 euros for an individual daily ticket. They also sell the "Unico Capri" Smart-card where, with the deposit of 1 euro, you can pre-pay for as many rides/trips as you may want within 1 day. Upon leaving Capri, you can return the card and get your 1 euro deposit back.

I would recommend buying your tickets separately (or as 60-minute tickets) as you may not know how many times you will use the card if you buy the "Unico." The rates, bus timetables/schedules are all posted online at this site for further information: http://www.capritourism.com/en/bus.html

The bus ride from Capri to Anacapri is a lot of fun, although the bus fills up very quickly during the tourist season. It's a small bus, as I recall, inasmuch as the twisting road is perilously narrow.

And the taxi ride (in summer, anyway, they are these cute convertible cars with a safari canvas roof)will cost 10 euro from the center of Anacapri town to the center of Capri town.

Hi Sherristieg,

We stayed at C-A in Anacapri in April and LOVED it. I was thinking about it last week, that it's probably one of the most memorable hotels I've stayed at. The staff is wonderful! In any event, we had few difficulties with transportation. Anacapri town is just a short walk away. To Capri town, we sometimes took the hotel shuttle (free when available), sometimes the bus - and just once we had to wait 30 minutes for it in Capri - and once a taxi. But all-in-all, it was not an inconvenience that would keep me from staying at C-A again. Have a wonderful time!

My husband and I were in Capri in 2002. We still laugh about some of the bus rides. They don't just fill up, they pack the bus with people doubled up on laps and anywhere you can possibly sit, except in the driver's lap.

Thanks so much for all the feedback! I'm very excited to go....Does the taxis run late at night? Curious incase we stay out late...
Thanks in advance.

Re those busses, now they were hair raising. I was stuffed up against the rear door and at the first curve I looked down and boy did I look dooooown! The bus was right up to the little railing and it looked to me like I was para-sailing off the cliff.

I was hoping the driver wouldn't lean on the little door opening lever!
