Taxis and bus rental in Mykonos

Hi - we have a large group renting a villa in Mykonos - 12 adults and 11 kids - and were wondering on if there were recommendations on car rental places and also for a possible bus service to ferry all of us around.

Thanks

Alok

When will you be on Mykonos?

Taxis are a big problem , since there are not many, while there are thousands of tourists...
You will see super long queues at night waiting for a taxi, while it is practically impossible to get a taxi upon arrival at the aiport or port if you haven't booked one in advance.

The same goes for busses, since they are booked for transportation of groups of tourists months in advance.

Renting a car on the spot especially in the high season, and/or during the weekends can be another problem, because often local offices don't have anything available on short notice.

If you chose to rent mini vans ( since you are a large group) you should book now, to make sure there will be availability.

Taxis can be booked through a travel agency or your hotel, a bus through a travel agency, but you need to give them a concrete plan of your itinerary, in order for them to check on availability and give you a quotation.

I can immagine that the concierge will offer you higher rates as they usually work with a much higher mark up.
You mentioned on another thread that you have booked a villa, is it the Myconian Avaton Resort?

Here are two local travel agencies :

Myconos Accommodation Center
http://www.mykonos-accommodation.com

Blue Line
http://www.blueline.gr

Blue Line have their own coach fleet and this is where most other travel agencies are booking their tours/transfers
