taxi vs. Parisshuttle

We have reservations for the Paris shuttle. There will be four adults, five bags. Would a taxi be cheaper and more convient? (the shuttle is $16.00 per person) thanks

I assume you mean that you have reservations for one of the Paris commercial shuttles, as opposed to the Air France shuttle, which you can't reserve. I think a taxi would be cheaper. We take a taxi for four (Mercedes station wagon, usually, Taxi Parisien) every year from CDG to our hotel in the 7me and pay about 300 FF. That would be a savings of about $22 at today's exchange rate over what you are planning to pay for the shuttle. Even with the tip, it's a savings of $20. The station wagon taxis are more and more prevalent in Paris these days, and we've never had a problem getting one, standing in the taxi queue. In fact, we usually get one more quickly than other passengers, because parties of four are less prevalent than parties of fewer people.

Keep in mind that the european taxis are smaller in most cases than in the USA. Four adults,lluggage,carry-ons,etc
It can get a bit snug.Maybe two taxi's.
Obviously, the taxi will take you directly to the hotel, which if you are jet-lagged it is quite nice.
The shuttle many have several stops before it gets to your destination.
I quess i am not much help, but it is food for thought!
I beleive a taxi ride in the cityis
approx. $40. It's been 2 yrs since I was there. Anyone w/ current prices out there?
Have fun!!!!

We just (last Sat, Mar 24) took a taxi from our hotel (in the 11th e, at the Bastille metro stop) to CDG and it was 311 fr or about $43 for the 3 of us. We left on a Sat a.m. and it only took about 30 minutes.

I was willing to take the metro but my friends were not.

Sandy

We just used taxis both to and from CDG. There were 4 of us plus luggage. We paid 400F each way including tip. The shuttle would have been 380F, sans tip. Taxi was faster and very convenient. We had no problem fitting into the cab.
