Well, look who's here--yet another driver or driver's rep with yet another ad!

And I can't even blame this one on MontanaBrit!

Everyone has their own tastes, but we would hate to be stuck with a private driver, no matter how nice. And unless money is no object to you (in which case how nice but I have no experience with that!)...

For one day of glorious independence, see from multi perspectives, try the following:

1) Early bus from Sorrento to Positano
2) Get off at the first Positano stop
3) Delightful stroll down through Positano, enjoying views, flowers, colors, ambience
4) Ferry from Positano beach to Amalfi
5) Catch bus up from Amalfi to Ravello -
6) Enjoy quiet, calm, amazing views
7) Walk down from Ravello to Amafi - absolutely extraordinary through lemon groves with sublime vistas
8) See what you want of Amalfi later in the day when crowds of tourists have lessened a bit
9) Eventually, return to Sorrento - agree the bus may be a scrum but not so much if you leave it later. OR ferry.

Not too eventually on the return to Sorrento on a bus. They stop running fairly early. You may be stuck taking a taxi back after all.
Best to check out the schedule before you make any plans with public transportation.

Texas: I am glad to see you here. I just got finished reading your trip report about the Cilento; I wonder if you would mind if I asked a few questions about that area....I am thinking of a visit next spring...

TT: Thanks very much! Are you headed back to Castellabate?

I would have only one week--7 night total, flying into Naples-- and think I would split that between 2 destinations--one in the northern part of the Cilento near Paestum or Castellabate, and the other (maybe) further south: Palinuro, Pisciotta, or Casal Velino. So we would look at hotels, not apartments, on this trip and we want hotels with a pool for swimming.

Your report was so very helpful! I will start a new thread soon and ask a few questions. This trip would not be until next year, so I have time.. We are mainly interested in swimming, scenery, and local food, and wandering around villages/seaports, etc. I am going to read your report once more later today..
