Taxi or car service to Venice Marco Polo?

I have been to Venice many, many times, but I have only taken a land taxi to the airport one time, and it was not by plan! The lagoon was fogged in. We usually rely on the alilaguna. We are going in January and staying close enough to walk to the car park. We will take a taxi or reserve a car service for our 7AM flight. There are 5 of usc so that will not be much more expensive than 5 bus tickets.

I know there is a similar post going, but he does not say when he is going. I have never been in Venice in January. Will there be plenty of taxis or should we book a car service for our 5AM trip? Does anyone recommend a certain car service?

The local bus service leaves at 0500 and is only 6E each.
It is very convenient---from Piazzale Roma.

I'm not at all sure that one cab will hold 5 people plus luggage. I would arrange a car in advance to be sure it is large enough for all of you and your belongings.

I knew it would probably take two taxis. The only reason I am worried about the bus is that the one morning we needed them, because the water taxi could not get us to the airport, there were no buses. I am in charge of this trip because I know Venice, and it is the first trip for the others, so I think I will arrange a car. That way I can enjoy the trip without that worry hanging over my head. Does anyone have a suggestion for one?

It can be b#### difficult to find the correct bus in Piazzale Roma, I certainly would not want to be doing it at 5am. I would organise a van and know beforehand exactly where you should go to meet it.
