Taxi from Port in Civitavecchia to Trastevere

Two questions -

1. Do you know of a website to book a taxi from Port in Civitavecchia to via dell'Arco De Tolomei in Trastevere.......I already have a cost which is 120 euro (A$196)......anything else reliable and cheaper? Trains and buses may be awkward as we will have our suitcases with us.......in our early 60's and fit.

2. Does one tip the taxi driver?

Thanks

That estimate sounds about right. Obviously, public trans is cheaper and reliable (other than strikes), and people board trains and buses with luggage all the time.

Yes, you tip the taxi driver, and there is an additional charge for luggage.

You could book a private shuttle service, but the cost will likely be a little higher. You'd tip this driver too. Here's one:

The train would cost 4.10 euros each. No tipping. Generally, two trains each hour, and the journey takes an hour or less.

http://www.romecabs.com/

We have friends who have used them for transport from the seaport to Rome. We also used Rome Cabs, and got Stefano himself, for a whole day tour of Rome. He is a professional and answers Emails immediately. Strongly recommend them.

The train is 4.10€ and travel time is 49 minutes. Unless you have lots of luggage, all you have to do is put it on the train and get it off upon arrival. If you are staying in Trastevere, you could taxi from the Trastevere station to your hotel (or take the tram).

Used Rome cabs three weeks ago from FCO to hotel, from hotel to port and from port back to hotel after cruise and again from hotel to FCO. Driver had bottle of cold water waiting for each of us, spoke english well, gave us a mini tour on the way in, all this in a clean comfortable car.
Has to be best service in Rome. They do NOT take credit cards.
Recommend highly!!!

Hi kaz,

Italians rarely tip taxi drivers. If you get extra good service, such as luggage handling, a Euro or so is sufficient.
