Taxi from Paris to CDG - Metered or Flat Rate?

Are taxi fares from Paris to CDG on the meter or is it a fixed rate?

On the meter..if you want a flat rate you'll need to hire a shuttle service.

Remember also that you're charged for each piece of luggage that goes in the trunk or back or the van and for each person beyond the first. Our tab for the ride with 4 people and 2 roll-ons, one duffle and 1 larger suitcase was 54e.

There is a charge for pieces of luggage (about 1 euro each, I think), but there isn't any extra charge per person until you have at least four people--then it's 2.60 euro for the fourth. There is also a slight supplement for getting one at railroad stations, and other big items you might have (skis, etc). Rates do go up quite a bit at night after 7 pm or before 7 am, and Sundays or holidays. Rates are a little higher out near the airports until you reach the central zone of the peripherique, also. 40-50 euro is a good bet from CDG to central Paris.

And one more little denouement to add to Christine's--the meter starts running when the taxi leaves its stand so there will be something on the meter when it arrives at your hotel. Info on extra people is correct--only a surcharge for the 4th person, not first.

Thanks for all the great information - and so quickly!! We'll be disembarking from a cruise in Dover on a Saturday in July, and plan to take the Eurostar from Ashford to Paris. We'll be flying out of Paris at 1:15pm on the following Tuesday, so we'll probably need to leave the hotel by 10am, I would think?

One more thing...it's just two of us, and we'll probably have 2 26" roll ons, and 2 carry-ons in total.

Hi There, I highly recommend getting a shuttle service booked through your hotel. Most of them wii have this service to offer for a flat rate. I feel it's just so much easier than a taxi or the Metro. You book it and then just relax... Have fun!

You should consider leaving you hotel earlier than 10 AM for a 1:15PM flight. Traffic in Paris can be really congested during the day and most airlines require a 2 hour MINIMUM check in for intercontenental flights. A few airlines are now insiting on a 3 hour advance check in. Plus CDG is a zoo and security/check in can sometimes take a long time.

I would leave by 9AM at the latest . . .

You may end up w/ time to kill at CDG, but that is better than havibg to race through the airport to make your flight (or maybe miss it)

Terminal 1 (the round one) is a check-in nightmare - takes at least 1.5 hrs to get thru security checks. Terminal 2 is not so bad, in my experience. I am the type, that when it is the day to leave, I'm ready to go early - I'm done and it's time to get to the airport, check in, and know you are beyond any delays or problems in making the flight.

Hi,

I agree with the last three posts. Have the hotel arrange a shuttle service and leave earlier.
