I agree with janisj.

It may be pedantic, but you often need to be specific.
Visitors to the UK almost invariably mean "Shakespeare country" when they talk about Stratford.

We have had people ask directions to Liverpool and being given directions to the North West of England, before finding out they actually want Liverpool Street station in London.

I would hope most travel agents would know that customers asking for Britair would actually want to fly British Airways rather than the small subsidiary of Air France based in Brittany.

I am sure it is not specific to the UK. If I hear Venice or Paris, I would never assume that people were talking about Florida or Texas.

I probably should have said <i>You would not be happy if you ended up in Stratford expecting to see Shakespeare's birthplace</i>
