Taxi From Euston Rail Station To Victoria Station
Would it be terribly expensive to take a taxi from Euston Station to Victoria Station?
I'm a 74 year old woman traveling alone, and I'm finding it more difficult to get around with my luggage. I'm just wondering if it would be feasible to use a taxi from Euston to Victoria. I do travel light, but the stairs and escalators seem to be getting steeper as I get older. LOL Thank you. |
Depending on the traffic it could vary quite a bit. But between £15 and £20 would be my guess.
You can take a bus w/o any stairs or transfers. The #73 goes from Euston to Victoria -- Easy and cheap. It will take longer though. According to the TFL website about 45 minutes. |
Thanks, Janis. Twenty pounds does sound a bit steep -- I may do as you suggest and take the bus. I'll have plenty of time going back to Gatwick. My plane doesn't leave until in the afternoon. Thank you.

It's a while since I got a taxi from Euston. But the (30 or so) steps down to the underground cab rank were a lot nastier than the walk down a few steps to the 73 bus stop. I'm not aware (but then not infallible) of any non-step access to taxis
Depends on the luggage - but getting to the 73 stop can be quite a walk if you're carrying any as well. Disgracefully, Euston was designed by the kind of buffoon (as far as I can tell, no-one's ever owned up to designing this monstrosity) in the 1950s and 1960s whose mind it never crossed that pointless, grandiose steps might make life difficult. The tosser who, as PM, sanctioned Britain's most disgraceful building, had the unbelievable cheek to stand up in the Lords and attack Thatcher for being "uncaring". Oddly, the journey TO the Victoria Line tube at Euston involves no steps (it's all escalators) - but, just as you start thinking that the infrastructure designers of the 1960s weren't entirely incompetent after a generally fast, comfortable, Tube across town, you hit a dozen steps on the way out of Victoria tube up to the main station concourse to prove they were all spawn of Satan. On balance, the 73 bus (if you live here, free at our age after 0930 of course) is the least worst option. |
Gatwick?
Get the tube to KX/Stb Pancras. All escalator at Euston: a lift up to St Pancras, direct train most of the time to Gatwick. As always on this forum: ask half a question and we waste time giving you an answer that doesn't deal with the real question |
Yep -- wot flanner said. You don't need to go to Victoria at all . . .
|
Sorry, Flanneruk. Yes, I'm going to Gatwick. I will certainly check into getting a train straight to Gatwick. Thank you all for the information.
