Taxi fare question
Anybody have a general estimate of how much a taxi fare would be from Nea Makri to Piraeus port on a Sunday morning? Thanks.
|
This is just a rough guess, but I'm thinking somewhere around €70, more if it's before 6am. Let us know what you actually end up paying.

I agree with brotherlee, the distance is approximately 55 km, so that a price of €70 sounds reasonable.
Once you are in Nea Makri just ask taxi drivers for a price, they should have fixed prices, and not charge you with a taximeter. |
Just wanted to give you guys an update. Took my trip by taxi from Nea Makri to Piraeus port on a Sunday morning, but it only cost about 45 euro. That was actually in a taxi with a meter. The driver was very nice. Maybe in this economy they have lowered their prices.
The whole trip to Greece was fantastic. |

Thanks for the update. Good to know my estimate was high.

I have a friend living in Nea Makri, and about 3-4 years ago she picked me up from Piraeus and we spend a morning in Nea Makri. I was trying to get a taxi back, but everyone was refusing saying it is far too away for them, they would not be able to collect anyone on the way back etc. I had to take a taxi till Agia Paraskevi, then an other taxi to Piraeus. Such bad taxi practices made taxi drivers to loose their clientele! Glad to see they are more flexible now, although I'd prefer them to be flexible out of good ethics and faith rather than waiting to struggle to make a living and been desperate before deciding to become flexible!
Useful info, I may have to use taxi on this route on early September, thanks familyguy88 . |
The crisis has forced many taxi drivers in Athens to change their attitude...
A couple of years ago finding a taxi in Athens was not easy, but now people have changed and they prefer to use public transportation. You see long lines of taxis now in Athens ( like at the metro station of Pallini), where taxis have never been before... This is also a result of prices that went up dramatically compared to the past, familyguy they have never lowered their prices, as these prices are being set from the state. ( and they went up) |
