Taxi fare in Amsterdam
Would somebody give us an idea of the taxi fare from the airport to the vicinity of the Central Station? Also, please advise if using the ATM over there is preferable to bringing traveler's checks.

Thanks for any help.

You can take the KLM bus from the airport to Central Station. Don't recall the price -- maybe $10-$15 each. I seem to recall that there's a train from the airport to Central Station, but my memory is vague here.

There are ATM machines all over Amsterdam and in The Netherlands.

You would be saving yourself a bundle if you just took the train, there's a station right there in the airport and in about 20 minutes you'll be standing in Central Station for around 3or4 USD. ATMs are everywhere, would totally use those over trav. checks.

We have taken a taxi to the airport from the center of Amsterdam many times (more convenient with luggage etc.). It is expensive though, taxis in Holland generally are: around $30 or 40 as I recall. It's about a 20 minute ride.

depending on traffic, a taxi from Schiphol Amsterdam Airport to Central Station will be between € 30 and € 40.

The train is so easy, even with luggage. The station is in the airport and it cost about 3.70 euros. Takes 20 minutes.

Was in Amsterdam 3 times last year. Take the train to Central Station. It's easy & fast even with luggage. But... watch your luggage at all times on the train and watch out for pickpockets in the CS. ATM machines are everywhere.
