Taxi fare from Kings Cross to Russell Square

We're taking the Thameslink train from Gatwick to Kings Cross Station. Does anyone know the approx. cost of a taxi from Kings Cross to Russell Square?

Penny - It won't cost you more than GBP5. It's a very short journey (only about 1 mile)

We did almost the same thing and were surprised by the up escalator not being in service. We had to carry suitcases up 2 flights of stairs.

I think Ben Haines has since mentioned that there is construction being done and there is an alternative up escalator somewhere.

Ben, where are you?

We went from Kings Cross to the Kenilworth (just past British Museum) for 8 pounds.

We are thinking of taking the Thameslink to London because we are staying at the Imperial Hotel in Russell Square. We only have one suitcase on wheels. Is it possible to walk to the hotel from Kings Cross, or should we take a bus, underground or taxi? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Wouldn't advise taking a suitcase on the tube (unless it's an express to the airport), it can get very crowded and no place to put a large suitcase.
