Taxi Fare

Can anyone give me an approximate fare from the airport (CIA) in Rome to the Via Venato area of the city.

sandi_travelnut Jun 27th, 2007 10:58 AM

There is a set fare from FCO to the city center which is 40 euro.

Sandi is correct, and please do make sure to use an official Rome taxi. These taxis usually are white with a SPQR emblem on the taxi door.

Car hire wise, once again this past trip I used www.airportconnection.it I love them. I booked a shuttle for 39 euros but they sent a car anyway because all shuttles were out.

when you exit FCO, look to the right for a huge sign that says "taxi". Do not fall for the guys that greet you at the door and ask you if you need a taxi and start reaching for your bags. They are not regulated and quoted me 70 euro for the same ride. The unregulated cabs are not allowed in the regulated taxi queue.

The OP asked about Ciampino, not Fiumicino, but I believ there is also a fixed fare for CIA-centro, a bit less then the $40E FCO fare.

opps kayd - you are right CIA is 30.00 and FCO is 40.00

sandi_travelnut Jun 27th, 2007 11:47 AM

You are right, I missed that.
