Taxi cost from CDG to 8th Hotel Prince de Galles

Anyone know what to expect for a taxi fare from CDG to our hotel in the 8th district?

Is any of the available public transportation feasible? We are 2 women travelling with multiple luggage and not interested in excessive transfers.

Thanks...

We took a taxi from the 3rd district to CDG and it cost about 60 euros.

Expect to spend 50-60 € for a taxi to Paris city center (+ Pick-up charge: 2 €). In addition to the metered fare, you'll be charged a small amount for suitcases weighing more than 5 kilos: 1 € per item.

With multiple luggage, the RER & Metro would not work well for you.

You could take Air France bus #2 (€13) to the Arc de Triomphe (Place Charles de Gaulle Etoile) and a taxi from there. Or you could take the Roissybus (€8.50) to Opera and a taxi from there. The Arc de Triomphe is on the western edge of the 8e arrondissement and Opera is just east of the 8e.

What about private or shared shuttles? I found a shared shuttle

that for (2)is about 40E and then for private shuttles...I found a couple places on line

http://www.shuttleinter.com/arriving...formations.php
& http://www.cab4stars.com/en/offers.phpt

that are @50E a piece. Is anyone familiar with any of these companies?

Also, I have read some postings on trip advisor that state taxi costs range from 40 to 70E depending on traffic.

If costs are going to be similar, I think that I'd rather opt for a fixed price car---we arrive to CDG at noon on Wednesday Aug 15th...not sure if there is traffic around lunchtime or not...anyone???

The shared shuttle bus (minivans) are very convenient and relatively inexpensive. I have used several different shuttle services, the most recent being the Paris Blue Shuttle (http://www.paris-blue-airport-shuttle.fr/index_en.php) which cost 23E each way. All of the shuttles I have used have been reliably on time and convenient to book. I like the "door to door" convenience.

Another vote for a shared shuttle. We had a bad experience with Paris shuttle but were happy with Blue Van. Yellow Van is also recommended frequently on this board.

Thanks...blue shuttle it is!

My office is directly across from the Prince de Galles (you will know for whom I work if your room faces the front). A taxi to the Prince de Galles from CDG will take as much money as possible for the trip, because customers of that hotel are considered to have unlimited budgets. Therefore, yes, take a shuttle.

Thanks for the warning!

Aren't taxi's in France regulated as to what they can charge regardless of the destination??? Or would they simply take the scenic route???

Yes, they would take the scenic route. In terms of the actual charges, they are regulated by the A, B and C lights on top of the taxi that the police can see, to know if the correct rate is being charged.

I think you pay extra if the trip takes longer due to traffic, similar to in the US where there are rates for both distance and time.

A few weeks ago we took a taxi from CDG to our hotel near the Luxemborg Gardens. Our flight was late and we had to hang around CDG to fill out a missing luggage claim (caused by storms in Newark) so we took the taxi around noon and the charge was under 35 euros, with practically no traffic delaying us. Had we been on our original flight and arrived around 7 AM and driven into town in rush hour traffic I'm sure it could have been 60 euros because of the delays ...
