Fodorites - please give me an estimate of what a Taxi will cost from Brussels Midi to my Hotel near Central station?

I know I can take another train and arrive at Central station in a few minutes but I will be arriving by Thalys from Schipol after a very long flight and do not feel like doing this with a heavy suitcase in tow.

I don't know the cost as I've never done the trip myself but here is some current information on fares per km:

It depends on the time of day and traffic. I've had the meter tick up above several euros while I was still within sight of the Gare du Midi. Drivers in the Brussels region aren't the best or most considerate and as a result you get a lot of traffic jams, especially around rush hour.

Have you already bought your Thalys tickets? If not, I suggest you take one of the regular IC trains from the airport that stop in Gare Centrale.

Yes - Thalys ticket has been bought. I will arrive around 3:30 in the afternoon. Still ahead of peak traffic, I assume?

This will be my first time in Brussel, so I would like to reach the Hotel as "easy" and comfortable as possible.
