taxi at the CDG airport
The last time I tried to get a taxi at the airport, someone saw I was looking for the taxi stand and said he was taxi driver...ahhh...I followed him into the underground garage and he took me to my destination..LUCKILY...must have been in a sleep deprived fog to have done that...just where is the taxi stand when you come out of baggage? couldn't seem to find it...arriving on American Airlines..

Just follow the signs - very easy. You go downstairs from baggage claim. If you are feeling disoriented from your long flight, you can ask an airport employee or someone at the information desk. And, as you now know, anyone who asks if you need a taxi, "just say no!"

If you are landing at CDG, you will collect your baggage, pass right by Customs, then go through the doors marked SORTIE.
Look up and you'll see the overhead signs pointing to TAXI. Follow them. Stay in line and wait your turn.
You're right - you were lucky you got where you wanted to go - especially if you didn't get taken on an unnecessary scenic tour or have to pay a fortune to get there.

Legitimate taxi drivers are never allowed to go inside airports to solicit customers at any airport that I know of. That is just not allowed, there is always an official dispatcher/taxi queue.
But I also am surprised you couldn't find it as there are big signs all over. It is always out at the curb, of course.
