TAPAS/RESTAURANTS in BARCELONA

Any advice on good tapas bars and/or restaurants in Barc? We'll be staying at the Fira Palace near the Placa Espanya; but, will be glad to go to other areas. Already have enjoyed Quatre Gats and Les Set Portes. Thanks for your help!

In this months Food and Wine there is an article about the hip new tapas bars in Barcelona. Good article!

Mikel Etxea on C/ Ferran 15 was excellent! In the heart of the Gothic quarter but just off Las Ramblas and the metro stop Liceu. The place is packed after 8pm - get there early to secure a stool at the bar. At the bar the tapas are displayed and what a spread of food! It was quite an enjoyable place and very lively.

Right now I would say that you need to download a copy of Maribel's Guides to Barcelona, which will give you a decent idea of where to go for tapas as well as other useful information.

We too liked the Four Cats, but there's one I liked even more which was less expensive called La Dolca Herminia--2 blocks towards Ramblas from Palais de la Musica at Magdalenas 27. Younger, hip crowd and they even had a non-smoking section (which is how we were able to get in without reservations.)

Ate at ba-ba-Reba and Txapia (sp) both on Passeig de Gracia. Enjoyed both.

La Barceloneta an area isolated from the bustle of downtown and looks like a tiny Mediterranean fishing village.A few blocks from the beach front is Paco Alcalde ,where tapas number over 50 and are displayed over a bed of tree branches.Try shrimp in spicy tomato sauce for one .
