Taking the train from PISA AIRPORT to Florence

Am considering doing this instead of renting a car...

Would anyone know if we would have to change trains or if it's direct and easy from the airport to Florence.

Grazie!

check schedules at www.trenitalia.com

There are trains at least hourly, either direct from Pisa AE (Pisa Airport) to Firenze SMN, or with a change at Pisa Centrale.

Direct railway lines connect the Airport to Florence.

J62-
when i look up on trenitalia, it seems i have to change stations at Pisa Centrale. Does that seem right? Or is it just stopping there and we don't have to change trains.

Alan-
i can't read that link -- it's in Italian.

thanks

Here is the link for the Pisa airport, in English.

Some are direct trains with no change, while others require a change at Pisa C.

For example.

The 10:42am does not require a change while the 11:05 does.

It's just a 5min train ride from the airport to Pisa Centrale.

I just checked trenitalia.com for Monday, Oct. 1st. There are just a few direct trains each day from the airport to Firenze S.M.N. 10:42 am, 12:43 pm, 7:53 pm and perhaps one later train. Some of the combos through Pisa Centrale actually take less overall time to reach Florence, but the difference is only 10-15 minutes.

Even changing trains at Centrale has to be easier (and take less time and definitely less money) than the car rental process at the airport, driving to Florence and then finding your hotel and/or a place to park the car.

good point, Jean.

and thanks so much for the clarification on the trains, everyone.

I can't believe how nice and helpful you all are. I am very grateful!
