Taking the Eurostar

Hi,

I plan to take the Eurostar from Paris to London at the end of March. Where is the best place to buy tickets for this. I live in th U.S. Are they for sale here? Should I wait and buy them in Paris? Are there places that sell them at a discount?

Thanks

search for eurostar and you'll get tons of past advice. try eurostar.com or calling them. i've never seen the trains full when i've used them, but to get better prices you may need advance purchasing.

The earlier you buy, the better the price you can get.
Search for Eurostar in the search box above.

H kt,

The cheapest price for the Paris/London trip is the same day RT ticket at about 30GBP each way. You don't have to go back.

See www.eurostar.com and use UK as your country.

Also check with www.raileurope.com. Sometimes their price is lower than at the eurostar site.

Rail Europe charges for seat reservations, which are included when you buy your ticket from a TA in Europe. Their prices are not the best.

I also do not agree that the sooner you buy your ticket the less you pay. I use Eurostars trains often and this has never been the case.

I would wait and buy my tickets in Paris.

kfusto - I have to disagree. My understanding is that a lot of the discount fares "value fare" on eurostar.com are only available if buy in advance.

I just plugged some random dates on Eurostar.com. For Feb 18, the cheapest fare is their standard fare, which is £124 one-way. But when I plug in for March 18, the cheapest fare is their value fare, which is only £29.50 one-way.

yk: You are right - advance purchase tickets are almost always cheaper than last minute or walk up fares. Often less than 1/2 the price.

I would guess kfusto is talking about Eurostar in Italy, in reference to the walkup prices, and Eurostar in Italy has no relationship to the Paris Eurostar.

Oh, yeah - that makes sense. (Whenever I see "eurostar" threads I always initially assume they are talking about London/Brussels/Paris and not until I open the thread do I remember there are eurostars in Italy)
