Take the car ferry or drive to Bellagio?
I am staying in Bellagio and have a rental car, driving from the south (Portofino). Is it a snap to drive up the peninsula all the way to Bellagio, or easier to drive to the western shore of Lake Como and take the Cadenabbia car ferry? What is the GPS address for the car ferry port (or is Cadenabbia one of those "it-is-too-small-not-to-find-everthing-along-the-water-and-the-port-is-clearly-marked" sort of towns).
I realize I will not be using the car while I am in Bellagio, although I was told when leaving Bellagio that the view on the of the hill south of town looking north is absolutely stunning...

I'm in the same predicament. Also, will have rental car for the 2 1/2 wks in Italy and will be staying in Bellagio for 3 nts. We'll be coming from the opposite direction (Bolzano). I'm wondering if anyone has any helpful routing suggestions from this way. Thanks

We drove to Bellagio from Camogli, near Portofino. Took about 2 1/2- 3 hours. Easy drive most of the way, except after passing through Como. Then the drive was on a narrow, winding road, with the lake on your left. For me, it was a fun drive, but many others had said,'do not drive'. Going to a restaurant ten miles south of Bellagio and then returning in the dark, was precarious and not fun. Richard
