Wow. I am shocked by this information. I thought it was a good idea, because many years ago after leg surgery my doctor insisted I wear them on a flight from NY to India to prevent swelling. And I would have used them again this year for a couple of very long flights that I am planning.
Sandi, I had Josef Seibel shoes once and they were fantastic. You reminded me to look for them again..I really should ditch my black clogs.

While trekking around in 100-plus degree heat in Greece a few years ago, my feet and ankles swelled up big time after a looooong day's walking (more like hiking, some of it)--and not just mine, others in our group too. We were given the tip by a fellow traveler to eat potato chips as a snack in the afternoon because we were likely losing sodium by sweating so much. I don't know how medically sound that is, but it actually worked for me (that plus drinking lots of water). I assume Powerade or the equivalent would do something similar, balancing electolytes and whatnot. The downside is I developed an addiction to the yummy flavors of potato chips that are available only in Greece!
I always bring Body Shop peppermint foot lotion on trips for the end of the day. That feels great.
