Switzerland Trip - Accomodation

Hi,

We are travelling to Switzerland in July first week and plan to base our self in Interlaken (6 nights) and Zurich (2 nights). We have 2 kids (5 years and 6 months old). Need a good hotel close to train station. Any suggestions?

Start with this one: the Best Western Hotel Bernerhof which is across the street from the train station

What is your budget?

For Zurich--Pension St. Josef is near the Zurich HBH. This hotel has quad rooms.

There are two train stations in Interlaken--Interlaken Ost and Interlaken West.

Interlaken is a small town. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from Interlaken West to Interlaken Ost.

If money is no object, Beau Rivage is about a 5-minute walk from Interlaken Ost. This hotel is POSH.

Another expensive, grand hotel in Interlaken in between both train stations on the main street is Hotel Victoria.

Tschuss,
Pepper

Thanks - really helpful Our budget is $200/night. Any suggestions for Zurich?

Any hotel/vacation rentals with kitchen in 200$/night in Interlaken? Anyone stayed in Best Western Hotel Bernerhof?

Pepper_von_snoot May 7th, 2012 07:17 PM

$200 is unrealistic for a hotel room for 4 people in Zurich.

Pension St. Josef is IN Zurich, so don't understand your "any suggestions for Zurich."

For Interlaken, you could try the Hotel du Lac, which is behind Interlaken Ost on the Aare.

Here's another vote for Pension St Josef - pleasant clean rooms, good breakfast and a short walk from the station.

I know you asked for hotels but you might consider an apartment in the Interlaken area instead. Some might rent for 5 days instead of a whole week and a kitchen is a plus. Or, Hotel Staubbach in Lauterbrunnen is close to your price range, and a very pretty area. (Actually, I would prefer spending 6 nights in the Interlaken/Lauterbrunnen/Brienz area and cut Zurich to one night, only to catch the plane.)

Thanks everyone!! Anyone with experience staying in an apartment - which is a decent one?

Please help!

Have a look at some of the apartment rental sights - slovtrav or vrbo. BUT - many people rent apartments months in advance and you are very late for this July.
