Thanks, Suze. I am so pleased I posted this query. It has given me confidence. I was beginning to think I had made a mistake taking on Switzerland, but after all the encoragement, I feel better. Thanks everyone for your answers.

annetti -

We've traveled in Switzerland many times - via regular train, up and down mountains on cog railways, funiculars, in gondolas dangling from a couple of wires, etc.

I too, suffer from motion sickness. I'm the type who has to pop a motion sickness tablet before I get on a bus or undertake a squiggly road. However, I never feel sick on a train as long as I sit facing the way the train is moving. If I sit backwards, I feel ill every time.

As long as you're not afraid of heights, you'll probably be fine!

Have a great trip and have some Swiss chocolate for me!

Hi, annetti. It looks like you're receiving a lot of good information. I can't recommend any particular short run; just make your first one or two ventures a short distance from your home base. I'll add a no-brainer -- you probably should avoid the wonderful busses. The excellent drivers swing around those switchbacks; whoaa! J.
