Switzerland: luges?
Hi all. We'll be in Switzerland in July and are looking for what I think are called luges in Europe, but what we call alpine slides or alpine coasters in the US.
I found some for when we're near Fussen, but are there any in Switzerland? We'll be in the Interlaken area and Lucern, but could also stop by some on our drive from Fussen to Interlaken. thanks for any insights. |
There are alpine slides in Switzerland. They are great fun!
Sorry I can't give you specifics for where you'll be. We always seemed to just find one along the way... Have fun! |
Hi karens :)
Check this out: http://www.pilatus.com/content-n6-sE.html It's the "Golden Round Trip" from Lucerne to Pilatus and back. Includes a ride on the lake, a cogwheel train up the hill, and gondola down. Halfway down, you'll stop at a cute little village that has an alpine slide (they call it a sledge run). It's really a long run, and so much fun! We did it several times when we were there. In the same village, there's also a typical Swiss restaurant, good rosti, schnitzel, and apple strudel! Grindelwald also has a slide in the Pfingstegg area of town. But that's a bit further trek to get there for you. Happy travels! |
Here is a link to the Luzern/Mt. Pilatus "sledge"

I saw one in Les Diablerets, what they called the highest alpine coaster in Europe. Though they claimed it will worked all year round at the time I was there , feb ,it did not work.
But I image it will be running in summer. I am a skier since I was 5 ,now 51, I have run for a national University team and worked for two winters as a coach for the French ski federation. And nothing in the world will get me on that coaster on the top of the mountain. http://www.loisirs.ch/result.php?cid=354 |
there is a suumer luge in interlaken, right in town on a hill - obviously

You're timing doesn't work, but if you'd like a more hair raising experience come back in winter, head to St.Moritz, and try your hand at the Cresta Run. www.cresta-run.com
