Switzerland Itinerary
 

Hi there,

I'm wondering if this itinerary works for Mid-November to Early Dec. I am travelling with my husband and 2 year old toddler so we will not be doing any long scenic rides or skiing! Chrismas markets, short hikes, some snow, and museum visits will definitely be on our list. For now, I am wondering if this looks okay or do I need to add some days to specific cities which we should be spending a longer time in? Happy to hear any suggestions, especially places and activities for our toddler!

Day 1 Zurich - travel to Lucerne (start of Swiss Travel Pass)
Day 2 Lucerne - Swiss museum of transport, Mt pilatus
Day 3 Lucerne - travel to Interlaken (Lucerne Interlaken express)
Day 4 Interlaken - Jungfraujoch
Day 5 Interlaken -
Day 6 Interlaken - travel to Bern
Day 7 Bern
Day 8 Bern
Day 9 Bern - travel to Lausanne
Day 10 Lausanne -
28 Nov Day 11 Lausanne - Lake Geneva cruise, Montreux
Day 12 Lausanne - travel to Basel
Day 13 Basel
Day 14 Basel - Basel zoo
Day 15 Basel - travel to Zurich (end of Swiss Travel Pass)
Day 16 Zurich Lake Cruise and Lindt Home of Chocolate
Day 17 Zurich
Day 18 Fly back to SG

Are you changing location every few days? If so that can be a bit tiring with a small one in tow.

Six hotels over 17 nights. Although the many transits are short, I think it's too much moving around with a toddler. Lots of packing, unpacking. Sunset will be well before 5:00 and at about 4:30 by the end of the trip, so the days will be short. There could be days of fog.

Hi thanks for the comments! Now that I look at it, yes, it indeed is alot of movement for our family. I'll be adding more days and lesser cities then!

Regarding snow - the higher you go, the better your chances, especially so early in the season (like the Jungfrau, which I see on your list).

As a general rule, if a ski resort is open, its winter hiking trails will be groomed for winter hiking. Otherwise, hiking can be hit and miss.

One more thing to consider... I assume the toddler will still require a daily nap or at a minimum some down/quiet time. As you develop your plans, I'd include that in the daily schedule, even if it's just a long sit somewhere with a hot chocolate or a quick snooze.

Of my Switzerland trips, the first one was in early to mid November. I was in Geneva, Lausanne, Gruyeres, and based in Vevey. It was full on winter-weather (needed a wool coat, boots, hat, gloves, scarf) even down at lake level.
