Switzerland in May?

Greetings-
We will be traveling to Europe next year for our 25th anniversery. Lucca Italy and Tuscany but would like to see Switzerland as well. We have 3 weeks to travel. We would like to see some of the smaller villages/towns to get a flavor of the culture etc.
Our interests hiking, dining, more interested in the countryside than big cities. Prefer lodging in cottages, self contained apts vs fancy hotels.
We plan to travel in early May. Any chance we could see Switzerland with some good weather that early in the spring?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Any chance? Certainly. Any guarantees? Nope.

During the last few years, the beg. of May has been cooler, cloudy and quite often rainy. The second half has been sunny and quite lovely.

Again, no guarantees.

The Ticino is usually very pleasant in May. Basel-land and the Jura were pretty nice this year...we went on many very pleasant walks in/around the hills and wine villages. We had quite a few days with rain (including some torrential thundery downpours), but few days that it rained all day.
There are no guarantees.

Thank you for your responses.
We dont mind rain just wanted to find out if it was too much of a stretch to see things in May.
Any suggestions for lodging?
Again thank you everyone for your time and ideas.

We spent two weeks in Switzerland in April mostly hiking - (Kandersteg, Zermatt, Berner Oberland) - and we only had one bad weather day. One never knows what the weather gods will do, but personally, I wouldn't hesitate to go in May (in fact I have).

In Murren, the Hotel Alpenruh is great....nice room w/ good beds, viewing the Alps right off your balcony, very decent breakfast, and located right next door to the Schilthorn cable car. And, it really doesn't have a hotel atmosphere at all.

With Switzerland it also depends exactly where you are talking about. It would be better weather (for example) around Geneva/Lac Leman towns because it's low altitude, compared to up in the mountains could be colder or even with snow.
