Switzerland in March
Hello Switzerland lovers! I am so excited for our first trip to Switzerland this Spring break. I have looked through the great posts here but can't find much specifics in relation to the timing of our trip. We will be there in late March and I am not sure what to expect weather wise at our destinations and I am hoping for advice on what we should be planning for and what we may have to avoid for weather. Its 2 adults with 2 boys ages 10 and 14. We are not skiers but do like easy hikes, sledding, cheese, chocolate, castles, train rides, ...
Our current plan is to fly into Zurich and head to Lucerne for 2 nights then Wengen for 4 nights and back to Zurich for 1 night before we fly out. In Lucerne we were planning maybe a city tour, boat ride, just walking around the city In Wengen- ideas for excursions include trummelbach falls, Kleine Scheidegg and Jungfrau, Murren, Gridewald. Any thoughts? Thank you so much! |
Most prepared winter hiking trails will be open in March in all somewhat important places like Zermatt ,Riederalp, Crans-Montana, Hasliberg, Wengen, Grindelwald, Rigi, Flims, St. Moritz, Arosa, Davos.....Gondolas and mountain railways will run until Easter for sure.
Weather is always unpredictsble in Switzerland, all the year round. The driest area is the Canton of Valais. The highest temperatures are usually fond around Lake Lugano, Lake Maggiore (Locarno, Ascona), Upper Lake Geneva (Montreux) |
